Mandarin Oriental Unveils Three Resorts in Japan

The Macau Hotel & Innkeepers Association said they expect the local hoteloccupancy rate to reach 90% during the coming festive season. The city currently has 137 hotels that offer about 45,000 rooms.

OsakaJapan’s Mayor said the city is targeting drawing 20 million foreign visitors annually when the MGM Osaka integrated casino resort opens, most likely not before late 2030. He thinks they only need 10 million inbound tourists a year to stimulate fresh consumption in the local economy amounting to what would be US$7.73 billion. The MICE space, when the MGM Osaka finally opens, will triple to 60,000 square meters.

The Mondrian Hong Kong has launched in Tsim Sha Tsui. The hotel offers 324 guest rooms, including 12 two-bay suites. The hotel is owned by Peterson Group, taking two years to develop the property. The hotel includes art and installations from inspired local and international artists; Carna, a nose-to-tail Italian steakhouse and more.

Cross Hotels & Resorts announced its latest development, a hotel management agreement with PT. Grha Swahita (BIP Group) that will see Cross Paasha Bali Seminyak become part of an exclusive portfolio on January 1, 2024. The resort is located at the heart of Seminyak in Indonesia. The 99-key hotel offers a variety of 55 square meter suites spanning three floors while a further 10 suites are located on the upper floors. The top is the 110 square meter Penthouse Suite with ocean views. This signing becomes Cross Hotels & Resorts’ eighth property in Indonesia. The overall portfolio includes 28 hotels across four countries under their six brands.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the opening of Hyatt Place Bodh Gaya, the first ever Hyatt Place brand hotel in the state of Bihar and the ninth Hyatt Place in the country of India. The 74-room property was developed by the Saraf Hotel Enterprise and features the Hyatt Place brand’s design, casual atmosphere and practical amenities. The hotel is located just 20 minutes from Gaya airport, near attractions such as the UNESCO World Heritage siteMahabodhi temple and the Bodhi tree. The property features The Market as well as a library lounge to keep guests informed about the significance of the city and beyond.

Kamat Hotels India Ltd announced its latest addition to The Orchid Hotel family in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, formerly Aurangabad. This is the fourth IRA outlet by the group after recent openings in MumbaiBhubaneshwar and Nashik. The IRA by Orchid is located 15 minutes from the airport, situated near the city’s attractions and corporate hubs.

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will have three unique resorts in Setouchi, a coastal area in Japan’s southern archipelago. The properties, all branded as Mandarin Oriental, Setouchi, are slated to launch between 2027 and 2030. The resorts will all offer the high-touch luxe amenities expected from a Mandarin Oriental hotel. In 2027, a 92-room urban resort will open in the harbor of Takamatsu, the capital city of Kagawa district. The property will host restaurants, bars, a spa and a wellness facility. A 22-room outpost at Naoshima, an island town in Japan’s Seto Island Sea, will offer a more intimate experience. It will have a contemporary Japanese ryokan design and will sit in a picturesque fishing village. Ryokan-style guest suites and villas, inspired by traditional Japanese inns, will be sited in the main building as well as in three village houses, many with private terraces and gardens. The boutique-sized property is slated to open in 2027. The third Mandarin Oriental, Setouchi property will be located on a separate island and feature 50 guest rooms and immersive wellness experiences. It is slated to open in 2030.

Accor announced the launch of the all-new look Peppers Marysville in Victoria’s Yarra Valley following an extensive refurbishment. The 100 room/suite hotel, located in a region in Melbourne, Australia, underwent a renovation that includes a complete transformation of the entrance and reception area, stylishly updated guestrooms, completely reimagined day spa, new restaurant, refreshed conference facilities, and a new dedicated bike zone. The hotel is owned by Shakespeare Property Group. The new signature restaurant is the Italian-inspired Andiamo. The newly opened Wellness Spa offers three treatment rooms and gives access to a sauna, outdoor heated lap pool, spacious sun terrace and a fully equipped gym.

BWH Hotels announced the signing of the Best Western Jomtien Beach Pattaya, continuing the expansion of its portfolio in Thailand. The new midscale hotel is being developed just steps from the golden sands of Jomtien Beach about 2.5 hours from Bangkok. Upon completion, the hotel is expected to feature 200 rooms with modern amenities and panoramic sea views. BWH said they currently have 20 operating hotels and resorts in Thailand with many more in the pipeline.

Impiana Hotels Bhd will be traded and quoted under the name Magma Group Bhd as of December 21st. Bursa Malaysia noted the company’s name change to Magma.
